Toni, you used great sites and images in the presentation. I particularly enjoyed learning about podcasts. I knew they could be downloaded for personal use, but never thoughts students could actually create them! This video addresses Visual Literacy in a Web 2.0 World. It shares some research regarding visuals, learning, and retention of information; describes the four licenses of Creative Commons; and shares some websites where teachers and students can find copyright free images.
Nancy, I wish I'd known about all those great places to get photos. Most of mine came from flickr, because that's what the google search brought me to. I will be sure to bookmark some of those sites, so I will have better options in the future. Sarah P-S

I thought you did a great job with your video. I liked how you switched slides often which really kept my eye and interest. I was shocked at the actual numbers/percentages of each race that have computer compared to those that have internet access. It really is an eye opener and helps to understand why some childrn do not have the experiences that other children have. Great Job, thanks for sharing.

Sarah- I think that is an important topic to discuss. I find it difficult to assign lots of tech-based work because I can't guarantee that all of my students will have Internet access. I was interested to see the actual numbers of students without computers or Internet access at home. It's surprising that in 2010 we still have students without home computers. I really enjoyed your video. It was the first time I had ever seen the learning pyramid and was shocked that students retain 90% of the information when they teach others. Wow! I was also surprised that examples was rather low at 30% retention on the pyramid. Awesome job. Thanks so much for shaing.

I decided to watch your video because I wanted to learn more about student center learning myself. It is something I am currently trying to do better in my teaching. I liked how you gave specific examples of how to offer students choices and choices in assessments. Like Holly, I thought the pyramid was an important addition to your video. I also liked your slide showing the differences between the boomers(today's teachers/administrators) and the net gen students. Great point about wikis and how one can work on a response to perfect it before posting, unlike a meeting. I think your presentation could easily be incorporated into the course content for this course as it does a nice overview of not only who Net Gen students are, but some of the tools that should be used with them. I hope that you will have an opportunity to share this out not only at a faculty meeting, but I think this would also be an excellent presentation to share with parents at a PTO meeting.

I really enjoyed the brief history of video games at the beginning. I learned some new things from just that part and researching that topic is something I'd never thought about. I liked how you presented pros and cons of using video games. I am for using video games in the classroom, however, I think your cons were right one. Most of the cons are something that's out of a teacher's control and it can only get better from the top down. Nice points and good presentation.
Roann- I thought that this presentation gave a TON of great information. I especially liked how you used one slide to talk about each of the big pros for using video games in the classroom. I completely agree that video games can and should be used in our classrooms and I was happy to see that there are studies being done to prove this.
